More Than Music

The word "Worship" brings us to many perspectives, by opinions, cultures, religions and believes. There are many ways that people uses to Worship their gods around the world. There are even peoples who are worshiping saints, idols, angels, demons and many more, in many ways such as bowing down, shouting and singing including sacrifices and obeying their Laws. But as a believer of Christ, to me Worship were meant to be dedicated to the one and only God. Worship can be applied in the ways we are living, it doesn't limited by places, time or occasions. Of course, usually Christians worshiping God in church every Sunday where we sings worship songs, pray, listen to sermons, reading, studying and sharing the words of God, and also during our own devotion time at home. But it comes to my mind that sometimes we forgot to Worship God in the ways we are living, in our daily life. It is written in the Bible itself which says, we cannot just be listeners but we must also become a doer (James 1:22 - But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.). Often we listens about love in Church, but seldom we applied it in our life.

Back to the title "More Than Music", What I meant is the church including us who serves in church as worship leaders, musicians, singers and dancers. Sometimes it comes to my mind that sometimes it seems like our focus are more on the music and many things else rather than what it suppose to be. To me it doesn't matter what are the techniques that we are using to play music or how it sounds, how good we are singing, how beautiful is the dancer danced and how wonderful is the stage and the lightning effects was, or how cool was the multimedia presentations and shows. The most important parts is our heart and soul are focusing on God. I personally believes and had experienced how great God could use us when we surrender it all to Him. It reminds me about Jesus visitation to the house of Martha and Mary. When Jesus arrived, Martha was busy for preparation while all that Mary care about is listening to Jesus.

Luke 10:38-42
Jesus Visits Martha and Mary

38 As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.
40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!
42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Hosea 6:6
"I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings."
